I have been a photographer since 1984. My photos include a wide range of subjects large and small, from near home to far away, highlighting the beauty and wonder of our planet.
I seek to capture unique scenes and the feeling of being there. I do this by studying topographical maps, pre-scouting locations for unique views, working to understand the geography of an area, its weather and how the light hits it at different times of day to create optimal conditions.
My work has been recognized multiple times at the annual Grandfather Mountain Nature Photographer’s Weekend including a 2006 Hugh Morton Best in Show award.
This website hosts my galleries and online store. To learn more about my work and where the name Happy Lion Studios came from, visit
